Windows 10: AutoCAD 2010 freezing fresh install of Windows 10 v2004 - SOLUTION

I had Windows 10 with AutoCAD 2010 running, but after reinstall fresh Win10 install with version 2004 and after AutoCAD 2010 installation the fresh Win10 installation started with Window Explorer being irresponsible.


And I may have found a solution.


The culprit seemed to be the MS Visual C++ 2008 installation.


What helped me:

1 Download and install MS Visual C++ 2008 from Microsoft site

2 Install AutoCAD 2010

3 After AutoCAD installation I had two x86 and two x64 MVC++ 2008 items within Settings - Apps & features. With version numbers v9.0.30729 from AutoCAD and v9.0.30729.6161 from MS package.

4 I removed all four MVC++ 2008 items and reinstalled packages I downloaded from previously mentioned Microsoft site.

5 After I restarted my computer everything seems to work fine - AutoCAD works fine and Windows starts normally..


Niki_HK’s post is already locked, so I cannot post this solution to that post, hope it helps at least like this or maybe that administrators will link this to Niki_HK’s post.

Failing to Install AutoCAD 2010

To assist you better, I would like to ask some questions.

1. Are you logged in as an administrator?

I suggest you to follow the steps below:

1. Click on Start, type Control Panel and press Enter.

2. Under Programs, click on Uninstall A Program.

3. Check if AutoCAD is Listed in the list. If listed, then select the application and click on Uninstall.

4. After the application is uninstalled, try to install it again and check for status.

Installation of Autocad 2010 in windows 10 64bits

It appears that it's just not compatible with Windows 10. The system requirements are

here, and it says nothing about being compatible with anything after Windows 7. It says on

this Autodesk page that Autocad 2013 and 2014 aren't supported in Windows 10, so you should assume the same for earlier versions. The best option would be to install an earlier version of Windows in a virtual machine (search the web) and run Autocad there.

 

Is it time for Windows 10 already?
