Windows 10: Automatic Recovery does not work after July 2022 patching - Windows 10

After the latest Win 10 patching, my system would not boot. It went into recovery move. Automatic recovery failed. The only error I see in the srttrail.txt file is an 0x2 code for "Check for pending package install". I cannot remove updates or restore from checkpoint. Both fail. I tried to recover using dism.exe. Windows 10 July 2022 update KB5015807 - No Recovery options

After installing the latest Windows 10 July 2022 update (KB5015807) I have found that the Recovery options page is not available from the Update & Security settings page (or the update history page).

The "Recovery" word still appears but clicking on it does nothing other than to close the settings page.

Is this a known bug? or is this intentional?

Will this be fixed? or is it going to be this way from now on?

Just to be clear, uninstalling this update (and pausing updates) fixes the problem (for now) and I have experienced the same symptoms on 3 computers running different CPU, Motherboard, RAM hardware. All are running Windows 10 21H2

 

July 2022 update for Windows 10 will not install

I am trying to install the July 2022 Windows 10 update, "2022-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 version 21H2 for x64-based systems (KKB5015807)", but it consistently fails.



It reaches "Status: installing 100%" but then fails with the error, "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80070570)." It does this repeatedly.



First I tried the "Windows Troubleshooter" for windows update problems. It found a problem, said it had fixed it, and said to re-try. I did so, and it failed again.



Next, I tried installing the latest updates to my antivirus (Norton 360), which didn't fix the problem.

Next, I tried downloading the offline installer for the update. That also failed, but with a less informative error message.

Next, I a fix suggested elsewhere on this forum for updates that won't install: disconnecting from all networks, rebooting, stopping the windows update, BITS, and Cryptographic services, renaming the C:\windows\softwaredistribution and C:\windows\system32\catroot2 folders, then rebooting and trying again, but it still fails, exactly as on all previous attempts.

Is anyone else having particular problems with the July 2022 Windows 10 update?
