Automatic Repair Loop after System Restore attempt

My laptop is a Lenovo 20NF0012US ThinkPad E595

AMD Ryzen 5 3500U w/ Radeon Nega Mobile GfxProcessor

    Bios Lenovo R11et40W 1.20

Windows 20H2 with all updates installed through April 8.

After running updates last week my Logitech headset microphone stopped working. I use this for work. The microphone did not work well with my previous Lenovo, but I've ad no problems for a year until these latest updates. From Event Viewer, I can match the first instance of trouble to a Lenovo system update and a Windows cumulative update installed on the same day, April 8.

Uninstalling, or rolling back, the Lenovo update is nearly impossible. And not knowing for sure which update is the culprit the likely solution seemed to be a system restore. I chose the most recent restore point prior to the update, and my system went into a loop for nearly 24 hours. At that time, I had no choice to but to shut it down. I left it off for several hours. When I powered on, it went into this loop:

"System did not shut down properly." Options: Restart or Advanced Options.

Restart sends it into the loop. It restarts with the same message.

Attempting to choose any of the Advanced Options, e.g., troubleshooting recovery options, such as safe mode, start up options, etc., all require a user sign in.

I know my password very well and my sign in pin. The system, however, does not recognize either. The sign in pages suggest trying a different keyboard layout. I have tried choosing alternate keyboard layouts, although I know mine was set to U.S., but to no avail. I have also checked to make sure that CAPS LOCK is not on when the system starts up, so I'm certain that I am typing my password in correctly.

I am in desperate need of help to fix this problem, as I cannot even reset the system until/unless the system will recognize my password. My daata is backed up, but I have work related programs on my system and really don't know what to do. Can anyone please offer advice? Please.

    :)

  2. Automatic Repair Loop

    Hi Charlene,

Your concern regarding the device going into an Automatic Repair Loop can be caused by change on its settings/configuration or broken system files. To effectively assist you with your concern, can confirm if you've made any changes on your device prior to
    your concern?

As an initial step to get back into the normal Windows screen, we suggest that you perform a
Startup repair. The repair will attempt to fix any broken components/files which may prevent your device from booting properly. To do this, follow the steps below:

    • On theAutomatic Repair screen, select Advanced options.
    • Select Troubleshoot.
    • Select Advanced options.
    • Select Startup Repair.

We'll appreciate if you can send us an update.

Automatic repair loop, no safe mode, no system restore

I'm not sure if this is the right section for this thread, if not I apologize.

A couple of nights ago my computer was in the process of going to sleep and it decided instead it wanted to crash. I restarted it the next morning and was greeted by the screen telling me that Windows was attempting to repair. I was then greeted by this screen:

Automatic Repair Loop after System Restore attempt [IMG]

I have attached the file mentioned in the screenshot.
I have no access to safe mode, it goes into the loop as well.
I tried system restore, it said it was successful, but yet the loop continued.
When I use bcdedit to turn off the automatic recovery I am greeted with this screen:

Automatic Repair Loop after System Restore attempt [IMG]

I have run chkdsk and it says there are no errors. I can load into a linux dual boot I have so I'm pretty sure it isn't a hardware issue. Running "sfc /scannow" returns and error, I will try to post what it is soon, I forgot to write it down.

    Thanks for any help,
    Isaac

  4. Automatic Repair Loop after System Restore attempt

    Automatic repair loop

So I have a year old ASUS laptop. Yesterday it entered the automatic repair loop and now I can't get it out. I have tried a number of fixes. Firstly I tried doing the followings command

    • bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
    • bootrec.exe /fixmbr
    • bootrec.exe /Fixboot
followed by chkdsk but nothing seems to happened

Then I did a system restore which seemed to fix it for a while but then it rebooted to the repair loop. Finally I reset the PC and reinstalled windows. Again this worked for a while and then rebooted to the repair loop. I am stuck and any help would
    be appreciated.
