    Automatic Repair Loop - Cannot Get Past Login Screen


    Hello, Recently Windows ran an automatic update on my system Dell Inspiron 3847 and when it restarted the system never got past the boot screen. Looking up troubleshooting methods on my tablet I was able to do a system restore but when the system restarted, once again I couldn't get past the boot screen. After that I was no longer able to get to any prompts - the only keys that work are F2 and F12 but there is nothing in BIOS and Setup that can get me back in that I know of. I've tried searching for answers in this community's archives, Youtube videos, Reddit, Discord and Twitter the last

    Hi Charlene,

    Your concern regarding the device going into an Automatic Repair Loop can be caused by change on its settings/configuration or broken system files. To effectively assist you with your concern, can confirm if you've made any changes on your device prior to
    your concern?

    As an initial step to get back into the normal Windows screen, we suggest that you perform a
    Startup repair. The repair will attempt to fix any broken components/files which may prevent your device from booting properly. To do this, follow the steps below:

    • On theAutomatic Repair screen, select Advanced options.
    • Select Troubleshoot.
    • Select Advanced options.
    • Select Startup Repair.

    We'll appreciate if you can send us an update.

    Windows 10 login screen loop

    I have this same looping login screen problem. I ran SFC and found no violations. I still can't get into windows past the login screen. Selecting the lower left icon just loops back to the same picture screen. Multiple ctrl/alt/delete just loops. Repairing
    Windows from a boot media didn't help either. Anyone have other suggestions?
