    Automatic repair loop

I upgraded from windows 7 to 10 when it was released and have had no problems with it until now. However when I started up my pc this morning it showed the windows logo and below that said "preparing automatic repair repair" the text then changed to "diagnosing your pc". Then it says "Your pic did not start correctly, press restart to restart your pc, which can sometimes fix the problem. You can also press advanced options to try other options to repair your pc." I tried restarting but that resulted in me being taken through the exact same thing. I went to advanced settings and pressed continue which resulted in me being sent to the same ting again. Resetting my pc failed. I then loaded my windows 7 install disc and ran startup repair from there. It said startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically. I'm not quite sure what to do next any help would be appreciated.

    :)

Windows 10 is stuck in Automatic Repair loop

    Hi Robert,

Automatic Repair loop is a feature designed to help you fix some PC issues in Windows. It might fail to work sometimes and stuck in a startup repair loop in Windows 10.

The two most common cases of the Windows Automatic Repair loop issue are:

    1. Windows Automatic Repair stuck on a black screen with "Preparing Automatic Repair" error message.

    2. Windows Automatic Repair failed and said, "Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC".

We suggest that you try the solutions provided by community experts on this

  3. Automatic Repair Loop

    Hi,

Unsuccessful installation of an update could be a possible cause why you are experiencing the automatic repair loop. To address this concern, we suggest running the Startup Repair tool using your bootable USB. This tool can scan and repair damaged system
files. Follow these steps to run the Startup Repair tool:

    • Insert the bootable USB and boot Windows 10 from it.
    • In the Windows Setup page, select the language to install, Time and currency format and the keyboard or input method and click on Next.
    • Click on Repair your computer and select Troubleshoot.
    • Click on Advanced options and select Automatic Repair and select the operating system. You might also require changing the boot priority in BIOS in order to allow the computer to boot from CD/DVD.

Important: While scanning the hard drive if any bad sectors are found, the scanner tries to repair that sector, any data available on that might be lost.

Note: Modifying BIOS settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications
of the settings are at your own risk.

Keep us updated about the result.

    Automatic repair loop

you should have created a Windows 10 repair disk (see BACKUP)
there should be an error code when the system halts
this error code might be very helpful in sourcing solutions

Try to locate the error code and either google it or post it

    Good luck

Where should I look for the error code. When running startup repair from windows 7 disk or when trying to start pc normally?

  6. I started having the exact same issue last night. I see no error code on boot up. I have attempted to turn off fast boot in the hopes of seeing an error code.
I also went into cmd mode to check my C drives directory. When it gets really weird pc thinks c drive is empty? Or reserved but it does not show any windows files or default security or Sam files containing any bytes
