    Automatic screen colors change depending on room lighting conditions


    Hi all, I'm using Windows 10 on a HP Elitebook x360 1040 G8. When the display of my laptop faces a bright light e.g. sun, lamp, ..., the colors of the screen automatically change they become more white, i.e. kind of like an over exposed image. In a dark room or if I cover the sensor on the dispay, the colors become normal again. How can I disable this feature? Btw, I'm not talking about the automatic screen brightness change depending on the room lighting. I know where to turn this on/off. Thanks for your help.

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



    It seems that the night mode display is enabled on the computer which shows the warmer color on the display.



    Please go to Settings->Device->Display and toggle the Night light setting to position Off.





    If the feature is not enabled, I would suggest to change the desktop theme and see if the issue persists.



    Some PCs can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions. To find out if your PC supports this, in
    Display settings, under Brightness and color, look for the
    Change brightness automatically when lighting changes     check box, and then select it to use this feature.

    I think the night mode is enabled on your PC so you can see the warmer color on the display.

    I suggest that you follow the steps

    Settings

    Device

    Display and toggle off the Night light setting

    If it doesn’t help, I’d suggest you change the desktop theme.

    Sometimes computers automatically adjust screen brightness on the basis of the current lighting conditions. I recommend that you go to the Display settings and under Brightness and color search for the Change brightness automatically when lighting changes check
    box and then select it to use this feature.

    Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

    To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

    • Click Start, then select Settings.
    • Choose System, then select Display.
    • Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.
