  1. Automatic Scrolling Left/Up in Menus

    Good afternoon,

I recently started having an issue with Windows 10. Certain menus, scrollbars, option lists etc, will scroll automatically, either up or to the left.

I've done a lot of research on this and have tried every common solution I can find short of reinstalling windows. I've replace the mouse and keyboard, reinstalled the drivers, ran the windows troubleshooter, switched USB ports, uninstalled any programs that deal with mouse inputs, removed any bluetooth controllers, etc. I even reverted to the last update in Windows with no success though I have not tried going back further, and I believe I've had another update since.

I'm at a complete loss as to a solution. I'm not sure when it started other than early December, I did not think it was serious and let it sit while waiting for a new mouse. Reinstalling windows is not really in the cards as I have a massive amount of customization and data I can't afford to lose. However, I'm currently unable to do certain things altogether, such as editing videos, due to this issue.

I'm really hoping someone can offer a solution I've not heard of yet, or knows how I can escalate this issue to get it resolved ASAP.

    Thanks.

    :)

Scroll bar on main menu scrolls straight to last item

When I click on the scroll bar of the main windows menu (bottom left button) and start to scroll down, the scrolling then continues automatically to the last item on the list so that I can't access the others. It is as if gravity has taken charge! There is no problem with scroll bars in web windows or in Excel. I think the same problem was happening in Word last week but it is not today. I have tried following various recommended fixes including a clean boot, running Windows defender scan and switching off some mouse functions. I am no computer expert so it is possible I have perforemd all these actions correctly. Nothing has solved the problem. I've also tried a different mouse.
Any suggestions as to what is the cause of the problem and how I might fix it would be very much appreciated. The graphics card is fairly ancient: could this be the problem?

    scrolling bad

New event. When placing cursor over a list or row of columns, even the volume bar scrolling is automatic and proceeds to one end of the series and stops. The scrolling also stops when I move the cursor away from the list but am unable to select anything in the list. Not all the possible lists are effected. Other sites have recommended mouse/kb fixes. Have tried all those but the phenomena persists. Have not had any known updates recently and don't have a restore point to try. Any other suggestions? W10Pro 1903

Issue with Automatic Scrolling in Drop Down Menus and Certain Windows

    Hi,

Ever since installing Windows 10, certain windows will scroll automatically to the side and/or down to the bottom as soon as I move my mouse cursor inside of said windows.

It occurs in rather peculiar places. Here are some notables ones:

    • The left-hand navigation bar of the basic Windows Explorer window scrolls to the bottom.
Strangely, this doesn't occur in the main part of the Windows Explorer window.
    • Drop-down menus on websites, such as the one featured here, scroll to the bottom:

Request Product Repair Service | LG USA Support
    • In Yahoo e-mail, if the e-mail is wider than my window, it will scroll to the right.
    • Notepad: if my typing extends beyond the width of the window, allowing the option of scrolling to the right to read it all,
it WILL scroll to the right all by itself.
Strangely, it won't do the same thing for scrolling down.
    • In Google Chrome as well as Microsoft Edge.
I've tried 3 different mice - Logitech, Radioshack, and a wired mouse - it is not a mouse issue. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. I've also booted in Safe Mode, and the problem remained.

Another issue is that oftentimes, drop-down menus won't even stay open for longer than a split-second. For example, the drop-down menus listed under the making of this post ("Category," "Windows topics," etc.) won't stay open long enough for me to click
on any of the options. Weirdly enough, not all drop-down menus misbehave in this way; the other ones have the scrolling issue, as mentioned above.

I'm very frustrated with this problem. I've worked around it for months, but I'd prefer to not have to. I really would like a fix. What do you suggest?

    Thank you
