Windows 10: AUTOMATIC UPDATE SETTING NOT WORKING.

Hi,


I have a Lenovo IdeaPad S340 Touch notebook laptop with the latest version of Windows 10 1909 plus the latest version of the Microsoft Edge web browser that will show up in the next update.


I have metered Internet access.


I went to Settings and checked the box that allows automatic updates if the Internet service is metered.


I feel like I'm on the island in "Lost" the TV series because the security updates arrive around three or four times a day every day so I have to keep manually updating it or who knows what will happen. Nothing or Hackers will Attack.


The setting should have allowed automatic updates but it doesn't.


Is there any fix to this situation without me having to manually update the security myself three or four times a day every day?

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

Automatic Updates

They are installed automatically if that is the way you have Automatic Updates set.

I have AU set as download them, but let me choose when to install.

Is that what you meant when you said they are installed automatically?


As to your question Lillebror, I searched for a way to start the Automatic Updates, but really wasn't successful.
