Windows 10: automatic update

I normally don't get angry on Windows, but today you have managed to waist many hours of work! It has been for so many years already that people are complaining about windows randomly updating while you are working on something and regardless of all the complains it keeps doing it. I have worked for many hours on an illustrator file and I left my laptop in sleep mode this afternoon to continue this evening. At this point, you are probably seeing where this is going and you are starting to think that I should have saved my files. YES! But isn't it completely screwed up that the windows update randomly while I am away anyway(no warning at all)??? Just finally fix it!!! If you want my laptop to update it is completely alright, but not while I am away and the laptop is in sleep mode!!!!!!!!! (and yes, people will now say that I can do some changes in the settings, but it should have been good out of the box without me having to change any settings)

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

windows automatic updates

i have some questions about the windows automatic updates in windows xp pro w sp/2. ive got about forty updates they recommend , mostly for security but i only installed two today. after installing them i found them in my add/remove programs in the control panel, if i add all these updates that is a lot of space on my hd almost 1 gig. i thought that updates just updated files and not created new programs. should i innore all these update suggestions from microsoft?
