Windows 10: Automatic Updates on Win 10 Pro hang - no solution

I have a workstation with win 10 pro. I tried to take the computer out of sleep the other day and it would not start. It had automatically updated and placed the new update in but said it was collecting and cleaning data. The MS blue screen sat for hours with the % completed at 0. I restarted the system and it returns to this screen and remains at 0. I can not do a control/Alt/Del as the WIn 10 has not fully loaded. The system will not start in recovery mode. I assume the computer went into sleep as it was loading the updates. Any other ideas how to recover?

A simple solution but one that works in most circumstances!

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

2. In the list of services, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Properties.

3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

4. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

5. Right-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service, and then click Properties.

6. In the Startup type list, click Manual, and then click Apply.

7. If Service status is set to Stopped, click Start, and then click OK.

Windows 10 update hangs on downloading updates at 98%

Hi vinodh,

In step 3 you state to press enter after after each command but its written like one sentence,could you list them so we can identify each command please.my pc just hangs on "checking for updates" so i installed the win 10 updater and that just hangs on 99%
so i will try what you suggest above.
