Windows 10: Automatically muting speakers when headphones are unplugged

Do Windows 10 computers have this feature? Or is there an app I can install?

Automatically switch from headphones to speakers


In windows 7, when headphones were plugged into the jack on the front of the machine it would automatically switch to the headphones and mute the speakers. If you unplugged them, it would enable the speakers. How would I go about enabling this on Windows 10?

 

How to mute laptop speakers independent from headphones Windows 10

My Windows 10 does remember the volume independently with headphones plugged or unplugged, but not the mute state.

When I want to use the speakers, I put some volume (headphones unplugged), either using the systray volume control or the keyboard volume keys.

Then to mute the speakers back, I do the following, headphones unplugged:

• Drag the volume to zero using the systray control; on reaching zero, it mutes by itself (a cross appears on the volume control)
  
  
  
  
  
• Click the cross, so that the volume of the speakers is set to zero, unmuted. This is important, because otherwise if I use the headphones, then unplug them, it will play on the speakers. (I assume at the volume set on the speakers before muting them.)
  
  
  
  

 

Muting when headphones are unplugged/different volumes?

On my phone and iPod and Chromebook, the volume will be muted/at a different level when I unplug the headphones from the jack. The muting part doesn't appear to be an option or work at all in Windows 10. When I mute the audio, it mutes both the headphone
and speaker levels (I mute audio when my headphones are out, plug them in, still muted). Is there a way to do this in my current situation?

I'm on a Dell Inspiron 1500 with windows 10.
