Windows 10: Aux Cord Mic not detected by Windows 10

I recently bought a pair of wireless Zebronics headphones which came with a wire to connect it to the headphone port. Since the cable lacked a mic, I brought a new aux cord which had a in-line microphone to use. I connected it to the PC and the sound plays into the headphones, but Windows doesn't detect the in-line mic. There is no option to connect it in the Sound Settings and it only shows the default Realtek system microphone. No drivers were installed either. Both the headphones and the mic work perfectly on my phone but not on my PC. My PC also only has one headphone jack. What should I d

Aux detection

Hi, I'm trying to use the audio from a studio mixer to my laptop that needs to be used in OBS, I have a connection straight from the mixer that connects to my laptop via aux, but my laptop detects it as a headphone and not a microphone, I've tried to go on mic and add it there, but it doesn't detect, I also went into control panel and check if there was any driver update but all were up to date, i usually use another laptop to do streaming and when i connect the aux, an option usually comes up for me to select which mic i want and on that laptop usually select "line in" and everything works perfectly but on my personal laptop I don't get such options, also both laptops are from the same manufacture which is Dell

UPDATE:

So I think I found the culprit. The cable itself I connect the headset with has a low-quality built-in mic as well.
Connecting the headset with that cable into the microphone aux enables that mic instead of the mic built in the headset.

I was thinking of buying an aux cable without a built-in mic but I'd then need something like the following which I can't find anywhere.




Does such a cable actually exist?

I know it's an old post. But looks like I am in the same situation as you were. Did you find the solution for it ? Did you try a 2.5mm TRRS (4 poles) male to 3.5mm TRRS (4 poles) male connector wire ?
