Do you have Broadband or Dial-up Internet connection ?

On the other hand, did you check thru' the phone whether any update is available ? Dial *#0000# and under Options check for it.. The file size for update thru' FOTA is comparitively very small and hence the update is much faster... You may use WiFi too to
do that if desired ...

i watch it over wifi.. but the quality still the same... compare to the apps by google.. the quality is much better...



how come nokia preinstall apps link it to real media player... comparitively.. it so much low quality...

 

That image is saying, Trend Micro is the best AV?

 

For "Real World", which is what a normal user would experience. Other tests (can look over graph in dropdown) use all known malware.

Never been compromised, I question that.

 

I only "tried" it for a few months when it was on my laptop as trialware/bulkware, I kind of like it, but It cost $$$ where MSE/Defender is free. If I could afford an AV I would have gotten either Trend Micro or Bitdefender back then.

But after years of using Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender and remaining malware & virus free, with no false positves, I would stay with Defender & Malwarebytes Anti Exploit(not to be confused with Anti Malware).

 

Cheers, will give it a try when window 10 lets me install a 3rd party AV as I can only get 4 to install at the moment, bitdefender, avast Avira and kaspersky.

COMPARATIVE AV reports are 100% A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME -- so the whole thread is an exercise in "Yawn-o-nomics" !!!

My reasoning is here : (Note my remarks are for individuals / home users - not large corporate Lans)

1) Any new virus etc can appear at ANY TIME so any past reports of effectiveness or otherwise of a particular piece of software will be HUGELY OUT OF DATE.

2) Windows has a perfectly good built in system -- now built right into the KERNEL of the OS and updated often daily - any 3rd party AV software can't react as quickly - not without reverse engineering the kernel.

3) The current OS is still being tested and modified - so any software that relies on hooks / parts of code integrating with the kernel might not work after the next Windows update

4) most 3rd party stuff switches off the built in security -- and probably adds overhead to the OS.

5) You can much better protect a computer with a decent FIREWALL and proper rules.

6) most threats these days come from USER problems -- giving away passwords, opening "Scam look alike websites with harmful links", sending money to unckecked people etc etc.

7) even Torrent sites don't have much / any malware in them now -- especially if you only download music / video with proper file extensions such as .flac, .mp3 .mp4 .mkv etc. Any virus say embedded into an mkv or mp3 file will be just NOISE for the music / video application or render the file unplayable --so no damage done. Don't open zip / rar / .exe / .msi files from torrents.

Seriously folks - for individuals the day of 3rd party AV software is PASSED. !!!

One AV is sufficient. Four would use unnecessary resources. Also Windows 10 already allows you to try third part AV software.

 

These reports can be skewed anyway they want. I've seen different security rating sites and on one site a certain AV program may be at the top and in another in the bottom.

 

I prefer Avast, AVG and Avira, but there are many confident AVs

What on earth do ANY of these do that Windows defender doesn't - apart from slow your machine down, lull you into a totally false sense of security and possibly make some dosh for the providers at your expense.

People are still looking at AV from a 20th century perspective --the whole scenario HAS CHANGED -- old AV software is about as useful as a Chocolate teapot. We're in 2015 - NOT 1915 !! the threats and the nature of them have TOTALLY CHANGED

I'll almost bet that those people who have a whole slew of different AV software on their machines probably get into MORE trouble than those with NONE.

I've been using computers for YEARS, travelled all over the world, downloaded from every torrent site you could possibly think of (and then some more) and HAVE NEVER HAD A SINGLE INFECTION.

All I've ever used are two things --Ms's AV system (MSE forefront for W7/ W2003 Server and WD for W8/W10 -- nothing for XP !!) and my own common sense.

jimbo I do the same, I either use MSE for Win7 or WD for Win8.1 & 10(with Malwarebytes Anti Exploit). But I created a thread in Eight forums and posted the AV Comparitives here for people who insist on using 3rd party AVs, so they can at least make, for them, the best decision possible when choosing. Personally, not only do I not use 3rd party, I find they can be detrimental, as they are often the cause of PC slow downs because of the bloatware that comes with them(one really only needs the AV part not the browser extras, system cleaning extras or another firewall...etc.), but when one looks in the net, some are the cause of BSODs & system problems too after Microsoft updates & patches.
