OM is also saying what many many people will thoroughly disagree with him on so it's good he said (some will disagree) lol.

Claiming Defender and Windows firewall are resource hogs is something the vast majority of Windows users do not agree with , OM is entitled to his own opinion of course .

I also don't think WF and Defender suck , there are clearly better options available but they definitely don't suck , many many computer users rely on them without issue.

As OM stated though ON HIS computer it is a FACT that these programs suck lol.

Well fredc, I own 3 computers, windows runs on all 3, all different ages, Windows 7 still on one, windows 10 on 2. Defender and windows firewall, does suck, BUT its better than nothing. Kinda like driving a pinto......lousy car, but beats walking. But, everyone has their opinion, that's what makes everything interesting. *Smile

Main reason was so Windows update would actually run a few times, only way to get it to run 2 times a day, was to run defender, cause that makes Windows update run at least twice a day. plus.....like you said, settle in...... Seems to have helped my windows. One of the main problems I saw was running windows update, WITH a 3rd party AV.....that was one of my main reasons.

I'm all for people using the AV of their choice, you can read a sticky of mine at Eight Forums, that explains what people need to take into account, when picking one. For me software choice is a very personal thing, like the music one buys , or the beer one drinks*Wink.

I have certain software & drivers, I hold off installing too, until Windows has settled after the initial install.

And of course you are 100% Right about everyone's choices. I couldn't agree more. And installing software and drivers, again, correct, Windows does so so job installing the latest drivers, on 3rd party software. But, lots of us know that.....now.... *Wink

My question is which does the best job at detecting binds? (Binding malware into a png or jpeg or other file without changing the extension) (including binding methods that sellers state are %100 FUD). EXAMPLE BELOW of a seller offering a paid service.

Atm that is my main concern. I prefer bitdefender, low on resource usage, silent & highly rated.

Well fredc never said, or wrote that I was talking for you!! My post was MY opinion. Also think more than a few others, don't use the built-in firewall and AV ....A lot more actually or all the other companies who make firewalls and AV programs would be out of business. That's just simple math. I am glad that you are happy with your AV and firewall. Have a great day!!

Funny thing is the people that told me to use Windows firewall are the people that are computer wizards like Shane from Tweaking.com and PC Wintech, forum mods and administrators from "Bleeping Computer" the top malware removal expert at Majorgeeks "Chaslang" etc..

Your comments sometimes come across like i'm right and you aren't , especially when you add in the words " for a fact" , now thats not opinion Mike , why would you say that ? Everyone knows thats not true , anyways just pointing out the discrepancy's .

You have a good day as well

Well I hope you AND all your computer Wizards ALL have a good day also. My thoughts on windows firewall and windows av, have not changed one little bit, its just a cheap firewall & av for windows users.

Point was never to try to change your mind Mike , i think we know thats impossible lol.

Point was to make it known loud and clear that what you say is only YOUR opinion and is not the opinion of many other computer wizards that's all , i am one to always speak my mind regardless of consequences and i have always been that way , i think your like that as well .

I butt heads with a lot of people and make no apologies , no ill will or disrespect intended .
