AV has left files in Cortana's Iconcache after uninstall

I wanted to give Kaspersky free edition a look over on my Windows 10 machine, but have decided on another course and uninstalled it. Or at least I thought I had uninstalled it, since a search of 'kaspersky' reveals there are still some files in ...\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana........\AppIconCache file.

Can anyone advise how to get rid of these?

Should I be concerned that Kaspersky is still on my system after uninstallation?

    :)

    Unable to uninstall GuardCat AV

I find the program called GuardCat AV but it's not listed under Settings-Apps so I'm unable to uninstall.

I also tried deleting from PC-Windows(CAV has left files in Cortana's Iconcache after uninstall :)-Program Files(x86) - GuardCat AV and tried to delete GuardCat AV but unable to delete. It wont complete deleting. Could you please let me know how I can uninstall unwanted software? Thank you.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

Appreciate your efforts to work on this issue.

This issue can occur if some of the system files are not working as expected.

Suggest you to follow the steps from this article to
    troubleshoot Cortana on the PC
    .

Note: Do not go with the ‘Reset PC’ option for now.

Method 1: Follow these steps to disable Cortana:

    1. Sign-in to the PC with your Microsoft account.
    2. In the search box at the bottom, type Disable Cortana.
    3. Once the suggestions appear in the list, click Cortana & Search settings.
    4. From the right section of the Settings pane, move the top button to ‘Off’ to disable Cortana from Windows 10.

Method 2: Follow these steps to check if that helps.

    1. Launch Cortana from the search bar on the taskbar.
    2. Then, from the left pane click the settings button.
    3. Under "Cortana" (the first option) and slide the pill switch to the ‘Off’ position.

Method 3: Launch the Settings app and click on Privacy. Navigate to Speech, inking, & typing, and click Stop getting to know me. These steps will disable Cortana.

    Hope this helps.

  4. AV has left files in Cortana's Iconcache after uninstall

    Icons move to left

    Hi,

One of the possible causes why the icons on your desktop are being automatically rearranged is because the Auto arrange icons option is enabled. To address this concern, we suggest disabling the Auto arrange icons option. Follow these steps to do so:

    • Right-click on your desktop.
    • Click View.
    • Click on Auto arrange icons to disable it. Make sure that the Auto arrange icons option is unchecked.

If the same issue persists, it will be best to delete the IconCache file. These steps will help you delete the IconCache file:

    • Press the Windows key + R.
    • On the Run dialog box, type %userprofile% and then hit the Enter key.
    • A file Explorer window will pop up and it will open your user profile folder. Click on the View tab and then check the box beside Hidden items. This will let you see the hidden items in the folder.
