    Avast's Fishy Renewals


    I had recently changed my card number and I was surprised to see that Avast was able to renew my subscription and billed me on my new card. I hadn't given it to anyone yet. It was unexpected. I looked around the internet and found that a lot of people had the same concerns. Someone at driavastsoftware.com said that this is what Visa and Master does to keep re occurring charges in order. Is that the case with all software? Are there any antivirus that you could purchase for say 2 or 3 years. I hate automatic renewals and it seems everyone is adamant at keeping your renewal on.

    Renewing IP address

    Hey book4worm,

    first of all, I'd suggest to upgrade to Windows 10 since you'll get a ton of security features and updates that XP is missing out on.

    But to renew your IP address:

    1. Open the start menu and click on Run...
    2. Type cmd.exe. A black window will appear.
    3. Type ipconfig /renew and hit Enter.
    4. Windows will try to receive a new IP address from your DHCP server.
    If this issue persists or if the command fails, check the settings of your wifi router.
