Windows 10: Avoiding Optional Update on Windows - Driver Updates, ELAN Keyboard

Hi,I just wanted to share with you regarding the optional update on Windows 10. Highly recommend to avoid the following keyboard device update, that led to the keyboard device not working. Please uninstall this update and restart the computer or laptop , in case you have encountered this issue. Sharing this experience, in case if it would be useful for anyone else.

Driver update software

Windows Update should have a considerable amount of good drivers. They'll be listed under the "Optional Updates" section. That should give you rather good functionality right off the bat. If it's a branded PC, latest drivers will likely have to come from the manufacturer's website. For the most part, built-in drivers should be Good Enough™

I don't think I've run across an automagic driver installer that wasn't loaded with malware.

 

Disable ELAN driver update in Windows 10

Hi there,

I have recently found out that each time ELAN driver gets installed on my laptop, I get a Blue Screen Error message pop-up when rebooting my laptop. After every Windows update, I need to boot my laptop in Safe Mode and delete
the ELAN driver in order for it to function properly.

I have tried using "Windows Show or Hide Update" package but it doesn't show me ELAN driver on the list.

I even tried using Powershell to force stop the driver but it didn't work as well.

Help.

 

Elan driver update failed

I have a Acer Laptop V3-571G. I'm having problems with my ELAN Smart-Pad. it stopped scrolling after the Windows 10 Update I seem to be missing options. I
have ELAN Smart-Pad with driver version 11.15.0.14. I don't know what to do or how to get the other
settings back. All I want is for my touch pad to work and to have one-finger scroll. It is showing update failed ELAN driver update for ELAN Input Device what should i do please provide me drivers from which i can use my touch pad scroll
