Windows 10: Awful ringing sound playing on my laptop every few minutes

I keep hearing this Ringing sound on my laptop every few minutes or sometimes seconds. I have no idea what programs it could be since I basically tried exiting out of all software that manages sound Nvidia broadcast and voicemod along with discord and a bunch of other programs. Is this a system sound or something? This really interferes with basic tasks and the fact that I record a bunch, and this sound is captured with it, is so annoying. Please help. Various high-pitched ringing noises after sounds are played

I use my headphones whenever I use my laptop, and the headphones aren't causing this problem (I tried them on my phone and other computers). I have laptop that, for some reason, plays high-pitched ringing after a sound is played (like a video or notification) and the ringing won't stop until another sound is played. The ringing doesn't happen when a sound is played, just after. This only occurs when I use the audio jack, so I've been using a USB-to-audio jack adaptor for the past few months to escape the ringing. The ringing varies in tone, but it's always high-pitched. Here's a crude example *Huh

eeeeeeeeeee *notification sound* EEEEEEEEEEEE *music plays* eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee *silent moment in a movie* EEEEEEEEEEEE

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Again, it's just the audio jack. If I use an adapter to use my headphones, there's no ringing. The drivers are all up to date. The audio driver is the Synaptics Audio from Microsoft (version 10.0.18362.1). There's also a program called SmartAudio 3 installed

No sound while playing audio and video files.

I appreciate if you could answer to a few questions to narrow down to the issue.

• Which is the application that you are using to play the files?
• Did you try the same on a different player?
• Did you perform any troubleshooting steps?

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to check if the volume is set low or in mute state in Volume Mixer.

• Right click on sound icon.
• Open Volume Mixer check for the application that you are playing the files with and increase the volume and check.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to run “Playing audio” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

Follow these Steps to run Playing Audio Troubleshooter in Windows 10.

1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

2. Select Troubleshooting.

3. Select View all on the top left corner.

4. Click on Playing audio.

Sound cuts off after 2 minutes.

  When you said “sound lasts for 2 or 3 minutes” is it when playing a video or audio? If yes which media player are you using to play the audio or video?
