  1. Back to Windows 7

    Hello Forum Folks:

I just recently installed what I thought was a simple update to Windows 10. It turned out that this was a complete update on the O/S. As usual, when Microsoft makes any major changes, this made a number of my non MS apps crap out. I am so sick & tired of this piece of junk that I will be returning to Windows 7. However, there are a number of sites where I can purchase and download Windows 7. I was wondering if some of you good folks can suggest a good, reliable download site to purchase a copy of Windows 7. Many thanks.
P.S. I may take a while to follow up on your suggestions or to respond since Windows 10 will not let me install Google as my search engine and I have to jump through hoops to get my mail. I guess Microsoft wants to force everyone to use whatever crappy system they have.

    :)

  2. Rolling Windows 10 back to 7 then back to 10 - can it be done

If you upgrade to win 10 and activate it, you can roll back and then re-upgrade at a later date BUT every time you roll back or upgrade you introduce errors into the system which can become substantial.

Better to simply upgrade and stick with it

  3. Windows 10 back to Windows 7 then back to Windows 10

My bad, as we all expected. After returning to Windows 7, I noticed that there was a system restore done just before I started the upgrade to 10. I restored to that version in 7. Subsequently, I noticed that the Upgrade to

Windows 10 Pro update was no longer in the system. So, I did another system update, and got the update for Windows 10 again. Now, the system is just waiting for me to start the upgrade process.

    Thanks

    Hi Lucas Powell

If you want to purchase Windows 7, Canada Computers has it. canadacomputers.com This will be a totally legit copy.

You can also go to this site and use the use the tool to Download an iso of 7 and then re-install. I will be honest I'm not sure if it will activate with your existing key.

I read that your comment on google. If you are in Edge and you want to set Google as a search engine you first have to navigate to google.ca. It should then show as an option.

I assume you using the Home edition of 10. You will find you have way more control over updates with Pro and you can upgrade your current edition.

Just throwing these things out there. I read your statement on returning to 7. Good luck.

So as not to lose out on anything and because some of my clients still use Win7 I have kept an HP Tower with it installed, run it along with Win10 RTM, Win10 IP and Linux Mint computers through a KVM switch. All are 64-bit.

As for a Search engine, I'm quite happy with DuckDuckGo

If you mean that you were not able to install Google as your search engine for Microsoft edge, you have to actually go to google.com, from within edge. Then you open up the Settings bar and go down to advanced settings and you will see the search engine settings you will then be able to add Google as a search engine because it will now be detected. You can't just add it like you could. You have to actually be on the Google page itself for edge you to detect that you want to add it as a search engine. Then you can set it as default and delete the holy blazes out of Bing.

There has not been any issues with making Google your main search engine. Of course so many do not even use Edge, because it was created for the tablet in mind, not for the desktop. If you are needing multi-platform, certain items like adblock, etc, use Firefox or Chrome. If you want Opera, use it.

I purged the desktop that we have i our home office of anything like Edge and the other junk that Microsoft seems to think that those who deal with very confidential information, along with it has to be protected from competitive companies, are going to use Edge or other junk addons that Microsoft pushes.

You can buy Windows 7 (Home and Pro) at amazon.ca for CAN $80.00 (free shipping).
If your computer was upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7, you can download the ISO (poster above). Make sure, you download the right Version.

  9. The trouble with DDG is the search summary results are buttons and you can't easily copy info out of them.

  10. Hi,
Well 7 still has 2 years support left and that's where i'll be till then and possibly further who knows
10 pro well it will do the same thing eventually
The fall creators just started downloading
There were no link to see how to get it like the first creators update so it's no wonder why MS claims so many people are now using FCU it downloaded and installed with no warning *Doh
