Windows 10: Background Image and Dark Mode Settings Change Automatically

I’m experiencing an issue where the background image on my Windows PC changes automatically without me making any changes. Additionally, the Dark Mode settings also switch on their own. Sometimes the system or app mode color changes to Light, even though I always set it to Dark Mode.I’ve already tried manually resetting the background and Dark Mode, but the issue persists.Has anyone encountered this issue before? How can I ensure that my background image and Dark Mode settings stay as I’ve configured them?Thanks in advance for your help!

Is there any way to automatically change desktop background color when dark mode and light mode is toggled

Is there any way to automatically change the desktop background to a dark color when Windows's dark mode is enabled and automatically change the desktop background to a light color when Window's Light mode is enabled?

I am trying to achieve this because I've enabled the "Show accent color on the following surfaces" setting to "Title bars and window borders". So I want that when the dark mode is enabled it turns the title bars of the applications to dark color automatically and when the light mode is enabled it turns the title bars to normal (light) color.

• Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue?
• Are you referring to desktop background image or lock screen image?

I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the background picture and check if it helps.

• In the search type as ‘Settings’ and click on it.
• Select ‘Personalization’, under ‘Background’ option select as ‘Picture’.
• Under ‘Choose your picture’ select any picture accordingly or you can browse the picture from your computer.

Background picture turning dark automatically in Windows 10

• Does the same issue occur when you set a default picture as the background? Have you tried changing it to a different picture?
  
• Which version of Windows is installed on your machine?
• Does the background picture gets dark? Or is it the dark mode that gets enabled automatically?
  
• Were there any changes made to the computer prior to the issue?

According to the description, it seems like the Dark mode is getting enabled. I would suggest you to change the settings to Light mode and check if the issue persists. If yes, kindly check with the steps listed below and see if it works.

Method 1: Update Display drivers.

The issue could be occur due to the outdated display drivers that are installed on your machine. So, I would suggest you to update the drivers from Device Manager. To do that,

• Right click on the Start menu and click on
  Device Manager.
• Navigate to Display adapters and expand it.
• Right click on the driver to choose Update driver.
  
• If you've already on the latest driver build, you may visit your PC manufacturer's website to download and install the display drivers.

Method 2: Create a new user profile.
