Windows 10: "background is turned off by ease of access settings"

i'm running windows 10, my background screen is white, when i try changing colors i recieve " background is turned OFF by ease of access settings"could anyone possibly help me cure this problem??

Hi Adel,

I am an independent advisor and a Microsoft user like you, and I would be happy to help you out with this.

In Windows 10, you can do this by opening the Settings window, then choosing Ease of Access.

If you scroll down to the Other Options section, you can then click the switch for "Show Windows Background"

Thank you for your kind reply, it IS appreciated.

As I said earlier, I had tried some of your ideas for solving the problem.

It occurred to me to take a look at the settings on another laptop of similar build.

The following "seems" to have solved the problem and as a result I pass this along in case others might like to try it before following your path.

1. Goto Windows icon on bottom left of screen and click on it

1a. OR if you prefer Windows + X

2. Either click on cog (settings) OR select "Settings" from result in 1a.

3. Look for "Ease of Access" and select it

4. It "normally" opens with "Display" - but if not LOOK for "Display" and select it.

5. Look at the detailed section on the RIGHT hand side and scroll down to "Simplify and personalise Windows"

6. Look for "Show desktop background image" (just below "Show notifications for" and the box that is set for about 5 seconds)

7. LOOK for the switch. - Turn it to OFF.

- You will know that it has changed since the background will then change also.

( if you previously had a picture selected, it will now show in the background)

8. Press the "HOME" icon at the top of the display on the LEFT - Windows Settings Menu should now appear.

9. Select "PERSONALISATION" from the menu.

If all is well the message" Your background is currently turned off by Ease of Access settings" will have disappeared.

That's it.

AS I said it worked for me after many hours of frustration.
