Background Recording Services Eating Up 80% GPU Usage

Recently my GPU has been fluctuating from anywhere between 20-60% GPU usage just from having nvidia geoforce instant replay and xbox game DVR recording in the background. It shoots up to 80-90% when I just have Steam open in the background. I've always left both services constantly recording every day for the past 6 months even when I'm not playing games and the GPU usage never went anywhere even close to his this high of a percentage. I have an RTX 2070 Super and I used to play modern games like Doom Eternal with high settings at 1440p 100+ FPS with both services recording in the background and my GPU always sat around in the 80-90% usage area, now I'm getting that without even having a game booted up. And if I try booting up pretty much any game the GPU sits at a consistent 100% with performance drops when beforehand I had never seen it reach 100% for even a second. I just started PC gaming for the first time this year with this new computer and I'm honestly at a loss for why this suddenly started happening, so any help and ideas would be appreciated as I'm not super knowledgeable with this kind of stuff. Thanks

    :)

  2. Cripplingly High GPU in Windows 10

Dave, the two processes apparently hogging all the GPU were desktop windows manager and client server runtime process.

However, when I list them now, after numerous reboots and reinstalls, no apps show up as consuming GPU, yet GPU is at 80-100%. I think this is because the apps are only consuming the 3D component of the GPU and not the others - copy, decode, processing or
    shared memory usage?

I've spent some time on Google and it seems to be a fairly common symptom but none of the suggested solutions are effective.

It doesn't seem to be linked to any significant changes, I even tried uninstalling the most recent windows updates.

    Any thoughts?

  4. Background Recording Services Eating Up 80% GPU Usage

Window 10 eating my Wifi bandwidth

Whenever I start my laptop and check 'data usage' after couple of minutes, I found 'system' is using my internet bandwidth in size of hundreds MBs.

I urgently need to get rid of this.

    I tried many tricks:

    • Set wifi on metered connection
    • Disable Windows Update service
    • Disable scheduled task regarding Windows 10 update assistance and some others
    • Set all background app to OFF.
Still windows 10 constantly eating my bandwidth.

How to stop this unacceptable behaviour?
