Windows 10: Backlit keys

Backlit keys not working on 2019 HP laptop running windows 10

Lately the backlit keys on my new Samsung laptop computer have not been lighting up. I think I have traced this problem as happening the day after Windows 10 created an automatic restore point. Is anyone else having this problem? I need to have the backlighting
of the keyboard keys. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Carmine,

If your device has a backlit/backlight keyboard, there is usually a special key on it to turn the light on and off. Just to ensure that we'll arrive at a proper resolution, we'd like to get answers to the following questions:

• May we know the make and model of the device that you're using? Also, please indicate if you're having difficulties turning it back due to a recent software update or changes made on your computer.
• Have you checked your device manufacturer's user guide to verify if there's a function key or a BIOS setting to disable/enable the keyboard backlight?

1.There was no Windows update performed at the time of the problem.

2.I checked the guide and F9 key toggles lights on and off. When the problem occurs, however, pressing F9 has no effect.

3. Contacted Samsung twice. Once, they deleted something called Samsung Update and had me reinstall it. Lights worked for about a week and then stopped working. The second technician wanted to me to perform a recovery. The only problem is that there
were no restore points to go back to except the automatic restore that the computer seems to do once a week.

I did notice something else. There is a sensor on the top of the keyboard that is involved, I believe, in turning on the lights. When I go into device manager, there are three entries for sensors. They all seem to have the same driver. I don't know if
there are three different sensors or this is an error. The last time the backlit keys malfunctioned, I went into Device Manager and tried to update all three sensor drivers. Each one said I had the latest driver, but after trying to update the driver for
the third sensor listing, the keyboard lights came back on and have been on since.

I am supposed to have 3 sensors in Device Manager?
