Windows 10: Backup certain files from my Desktop on OneDrive

My university gives me OneDrive Business with 1TB storage.I want to backup specific directories from my Desktop to OneDrive, not the whole Desktop.So I go into the settings of OneDrive.Then I click Manage Backup...Why there are only 3 options here? It's too obvious that someone might want to backup specific directories only.I know I can create links in command prompt using mklinks, but come on, there has to be something simple.Do I need to install some backup software?

I would suggest you to use EaseUS Todo Backup.

After downloading this Kindly follow follow below mentioned steps, i am hopeful that your issue will be resolves by doing this.

*Launch EaseUS's free backup software and choose "File Backup" option to back up files from your computer or other devices to OneDrive.

*Select the files or folders you want to back up. Then click "Destination" to select the Cloud Storage > Add Cloud storage service so that you can save your files to OneDrive.

*Click "Schedule" option to open the Backup Scheme window, here you can create a scheduled backup plan to back up files daily, weekly, monthly or upon an event. For example, you can set at 5 pm, then it will automatically back up these files every day at 5
pm.

*Click "Proceed" to automatically back up files to OneDrive.

You are Done

OneDrive Sync altered many desktop files

I am able to get any file/folder on my PC individually to synch with my OneDrive by adding it to my local OneDrive directory-essentially by dragging it there. Or by Uploading from my online OneDrive

What I am still unable to do is that one or two step Backup of Protected Folders--Desktop --Documents -- Pictures--as described in this tutorial:

Turn On or Off Folder Protection with OneDrive in Windows 10

That snapshot I posted above of my Backup Tab-->Manage backup should show this. The rectangles Documents and Desktop are inactive and can't be selected

That way I can use OneDrive as my Backup program

I may have messed the program up somewhat on Friday when my desktop files were being replaced by OneDrive files--rather than merely synching..And I frantically deleted/ changed some OneDrive folders to stop this..

I'm wondering if there's away I can get that Backup functionality back but without having my local files/folders replaced..just uploaded?

My apologies for my difficulty in explaining all this..

 

Stop Desktop Backup to OneDrive

Go to the Backup tab in the OneDrive settings > Manage backup and stop the backup of the Desktop. It's not possible to uncheck the Desktop folder. Folders that you can uncheck in the OneDrive app are removed from your
computer and remain only in the online OneDrive.
