Windows 10: Backup External Drive + Factory Reset

Would you be able to backup videos and other files to an external drive, unplug/remove the drive, factory reset/reformat the PC, replug in the drive, and access those files? Or would you have to reformat the external drive on the system in order to use it, resulting in a waste of time and lost files?

Factory Reset Backup

Hello! I'm planning on factory resetting/full resetting my computer, resetting all settings and deleting all apps. However, I want to save/back up some apps, but don't have an external drive/usb to spare. Any idea on how I could backup my files? Any answer
is appreciated!

I'm having trouble factory resetting my computer because there's no storage on my windows drive but I do own an external hard drive but the computer always says that there are no usable drives even when my hard drive is connected and has enough storage
to be a backup drive and i can't do anything without having storage on my drive. Please help me find a way to get past this.

 

Hard Drive / External Drive + Backups Configuration?

I run 2 500GB drives in RAID-0. (Seagate 7200.12 drives)

This is very good advice. I have lost my array once. *Mad I backup weekly to an external, and also copy any important files (work data, game saves, pics, etc.) to my 500GB "personal" drive. So basically, I have an image of my Array saved to the external, and a copy of "My Documents" backed up to the internal 500GB.

Moral of the story: Definately backup often, whether running a RAID array or not. *Toast :toast:
