Windows 10: Backup fails with error code 0x81000001

I have the same problem that "rideforlife247" submitted on 23-Mar-2023: when I try to back up my C drive the backup fails with error code 0x81000001.This error emerged immediately after a McAfee consultant removed a trojan from my D drive. I have rescanned both C and D drives thoroughly with McAfee. It did not find any other problems.I don't know of any other recent system events that might provoke this error. How can I get rid of it?
