Windows 10: Backup program hangs, then cmd prompt hangs; what do I do?

I tried to run AOMEI backupper yesterday to back up my data before sending my laptop in for repairs. However, it stopped at 29% and stayed there for several hours. I finally hit "cancel" hoping to start the process over, but it still says "Backing up data" and 29%, except now the "cancel" button is greyed out and not clickable. Maybe I was stupid for trying to do this, but I followed a solution on their website and started running chkdsk /f /r /x while the program was stuck, and now command prompt just says "The type of the file system is NTFS." I let the laptop run for ~5 hours and when I came back nothing has changed.


What do I do now? Is it safe to manually stop command prompt since it doesn't look like it's started scanning yet? What about the backup program? I've sent AOMEI a ticket about it, but I'm not sure how helpful they're going to be.

store hangs


Hi, I am new to this forum. I downloaded windows 10, the Microsoft store will not load and hangs. Suggestions on line have been windows logo key wsreset, windows logo x, command prompt sfc/scannow.
After running wsreset the loading image does not show in Microsoft store and still hangs. PLEASE HELP.

Program Manager Hangs On Shutdown

Thank you, I had planned to follow these steps today, but now I think I've figured it out. Ever since I performed a DDU clean install of my GTX 1060's drivers, updating them from 388.71 to 390.65 yesterday.
Program Manger, whatever it was, no longer hangs on shutdown. In it's place,
NvFBCPluginWindow hangs in the exact same way. I always do a clean install of my Display Drivers, uninstalling with Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe Mode, then disconnecting my Ethernet entirely before installing the latest drivers
from a USB stick to prevent Windows from trying to install them at the same time. So I guess until Program Manager starts to hang again I'll continue this discussion on the GeForce forums. If it does reoccur I'll immediately follow your linked steps & report
back my findings. It's my suspicion that Program Manager was/is related to Nvidia or it was just falsely identified by Windows 10 & was their Plugin Window task hanging all along.

 

Windows 10 update hangs on downloading updates at 98%

Hi vinodh,

In step 3 you state to press enter after after each command but its written like one sentence,could you list them so we can identify each command please.my pc just hangs on "checking for updates" so i installed the win 10 updater and that just hangs on 99%
so i will try what you suggest above.
