Windows 10: Backups stoped being recognized after last Win 10 update

After latest Win 10 cumulative update, my Win 10 MS Surface 4 Pro stopped recognizing backups done by a standard Win 10 history file backup.

Each time I connect my external backup drive, I'm getting a message saying that no backup exists on the drive. Than the backup completes successfully. I check with Windows Explorer if my latest files are backed-up - yes, they are a part of the backup.

After disconnecting the drive and connecting again the situation repeats.

Just to mention that I use the same backup drive as before the last Win 10 cumulative update was installed, and such situation has never happened before.

As per the description, I understand that the external backup is not being recognized. I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and check for status.

• Type “Troubleshooting” in search box and press Enter.
• Click on “View All” option on top left pane.
• Select “Hardware and Devices” from the list and follow the prompts for troubleshooting.

when a big update in win 10 or win 10 pro comes, ... i will have choice to backup PC after apply update...?

• Do you want to back up the previous Operating system?

Yes you have the choice to take back up your operating system any time after update in Windows 10.

Follow the below steps to check how to take a backup.

• Press Windows + X keys and select Control panel.
  
• Change the category to Large Icons and Select back up my PC.
  
• Select set the backup drive.
  
• Follow the on screen steps.

Dell Backup and Recovery Manager does not recognize my Dell


After the upgrade to Win 10 Pro from Win 7 Pro, my Dell Backup and Recovery Manager gives me an error message basically saying it does not recognize my Dell [e5420 laptop]. Dell support suggested I contact Microsoft support as this new problem is due to the Win 10 upgrade. MS support suggested getting a product upgrade from Dell (I have the latest version!)

Anyone know what is going on? I reinstalled Dell System Detect, which appears to work fine, but still the Backup and Recovery Manager does not see a Dell product.
