  1. Bad Drive Reinstalling Win 10

My laptop was upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 in Dec 2015. The drive crashed last week and I am going to put a new one in. Will Win 10 find the COA from the previous install??? Or is there something else I need to do??

    :)

  2. Is my Window 10 still reserved?

I reserved Win 10 and have the icon in my systray. I do NOT want to install 10 on my hard drive. It is bad and I have to reinstall Win 7 every few months. I have a new drive waiting (in the box)--how can I save my Get Win 10 app along with everything else?
Should I just go ahead and reinstall? I really need to so I guess I will anyway. Any advice?

  3. Restoring Win 10 backup after replacing hard drive

Have an older Lenovo ThinkCentre desktop with Win 10.

Windows reports the hard drive is about to crash to make a backup.

Made a backup to another computer in my home network.

Made a Win 10 installation "to another PC" to a USB drive.

Got the new drive in. Old drive was 160 GB, new one is 300 GB. Used the USB to install Win 10. All OK.

Now, I cannot restore the backup from the home network.

Win 10 cannot "see the backup".

I'd rather not reinstall the programs and documents.

So made another backup but to the new drive to remove any

network glitches that may affect backing up to another computer.

How can I get to restore the backup from the new drive?

Win 10 cannot seem to find it. It took several hours do create.

So, Win 10 loaded OK to the new drive.

But, I cannot restore from another computer in my network.

And I cannot restore from the same new drive properly loaded win Win 10.

The "bad drive" is still available to make any more backups if needed.

But the drive may fail at any time.

Even SpinRite says SMART reports bad drive that may fail any moment.

I'd like to get the backup from my home network or the same drive.

I'm OK with using command line if that is how I can make Win 10 "see" the backup on the same drive.

    Help!

    Thanks!

    Bad Drive Reinstalling Win 10

If you install the same version and edition of Windows 10 that you had installed before you can skip, do this later or "I don't have a product key" when asked for a product key and when connected to the internet Windows 10 will retrieve the digital entitlement for activation from the Microsoft activation servers and activate itself.
