  1. Bad focus on 1080p 125% UI scaling

    Hi,

I have a laptop with a 1080p display, I've been using it at 100% scaling of the UI since i bought it, but now I noticed that my PC with larger 21" (compared to 15.6") display is much more usable, especially for long session wich on the laptop get my eyes tired very soon.

So in the settings I saw 125% is also the "recommended" scaling setting but when I chose it everything became quite blurry and almost out of focus. That's a bad user experience.

Even considering that "smaller" thing usually look "sharper" it still looks a lot too odd to watch.

Any suggestion? Is my 1080p display sort of making 100% mandatory?

    Thanks a lot

Windows 10 Font blurry 125% scaling

I've managed to get sharp fonts in CMD, Device Manager, etc at once using standard Windows settings UI (i.e., without changing the compatibility settings or using the auto-start registry script).

Basically, you need to go to the Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display and set a custom scaling level to 125%.

The nuance is that the UI won't let you to apply the setting if you already have the recommended 125% setting in the Settings > Display. But there are at least two workarounds:

Workaround 1: You can just set the scaling level to some other value in the Settings > Display UI, just before changing the settings back to 125% in the custom scaling level UI.

Workaround 2: You can set the custom scaling level to some other value in the custom scaling level UI, Apply, choose to re-logon later in the popped dialog, then set the custom scaling level back to 125%, Apply, and re-logon manually.

I've tested both workarounds and they both worked on two of my laptops.

I've managed to get sharp big fonts in CMD, Device Manager, etc at once using standard Windows settings UI (i.e., without changing the compatibility settings or using the auto-start registry script or 3rd party apps).

Bad focus on 1080p 125% UI scaling

When un-docking laptop, Windows scaling changes to 125% but still shows 100% in settings

I have a 1920x1080 laptop display, and 2 extnernal 1920x1080 displays. When I dock, I do not use my laptop display. Scaling is set to 100% for all monitors when in use.

When I un-dock, and open my laptop display, scaling changes automatically, and visually appears 125%. I go to my display settings, and it says 100%. But when I change to 125% (which is the "recommended" setting) then back to 100%, my display then looks as it
    should.

    This is quite repeatable.

    • I would prefer scaling does not change when I un-dock
    • Why does does he actual scaling not match what the setting is set to?
