    Hi everyone,

    I recently (as in about one month ago) started receiving a Bad Image pop-up everytime I tried to open any program (League of Legends, Discord, ect.) This happened suddenly, as the night before everything was working smoothly. At first I tried uninstalling these apps and reinstalling them but it didn't fix the issue. I read that one of the only real solutions is to reset your computer, but for whatever reason everytime I tried to reset it I kept getting an error pop-up saying that Windows could not reset. I finally got it to reset and had to redownload Windows 10 and set up my computer as if I just purchased it.

    But I still get the Bad Image error everytime I try to open a program. What can I do? Please help, I am not tech-savvy at all.

    Hi Laura,

    To better assist you regarding the “Windows bad Image error message” on your computer, please clarify the following:

    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
    • Since when are you experiencing the issue?
    • Is it still an ongoing issue on your computer?
    • Any recent changes made prior to the issue?

    aolupdates.exe - Bad Image

    Hi Patricia,

    It is probable that there are missing or corrupted files on your system which is causing the "aolupdates.exe - Bad Image error."

    The next step that we can do is run both the
    DISM and SFC commands to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. Here are the steps:

    • Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, right click the Windows button, and then select
      Command Prompt (Admin). If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click
      Allow or Yes.
    • Type the following command, and then press Enter.
      • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    • Type the following command and press Enter.
      • sfc /scannow
