Windows 10: Bad performance / RAM usage 25-30% with nothing open

So i built a pc 2 months ago. everything was running perfectly till 1 week ago. Everything is slow now. The ram usage is at 25-30% .

I tried everything i found on google (didn't fix it ) , Scanned with 4 different antivirus programs but nothing found
However when i start the pc in safemode(no network) the ram usage goes to 10-11 %
I think this happend after an update but i'm not so sure

RAM is getting full in idle (clears when i open disk management)

My RAM usage is increasing even if I don't have anything running. When it reaches 100%, my ssd usage becomes 100% and lag appears. I noticed that if i open Disk Management, RAM memory instantly drops to normal (around 20-30%). My os is installed on SSD
and i also have an HDD.

Computer stuttering then freezing

Upon further testing, I found "system and compressed memory" to be the problem or at least involved in the problem. What I did:

Right after bootup and doing nothing else, start to download something via browser @ 3.5MB/sec. System and Compressed Memory staying at around 2% CPU usage.

30 minutes after bootup and doing nothing else, start to download that same thing via browser @ +3.5MB/sec. System and Compressed Memory is now at around 25% CPU usage. WHAT?

Also a weird thing, not sure if related, but memory usage according to the taskbar is always high, like right now (after system restart) it's at 15%. However I have 12GB of usable ram on my system, and 15% of 12GB is 1.8GB, but when I look at the taskbar
and add the memory usage per app, it doesn't even add up 500MB. Why? Not sure when this started either, but I noticed it ever since I started to need to look at the taskbar to see what's causing the performance to tank.

 

Quick look at your screen capture indicated only 1 of 4 memory slots is used.
I will assume that you have 4 memory sticks. The question why only 1 is in use?

1. Remove all memory stick and re-insert them carefully. Reboot to see if you have all 4 memory sticks in use. If you see 8 GB in use, you are done.
2. Take a pair of memory, insert them into slot 1 and 3. Reboot and note whether you can see 4 GB.
3. Take a pair of memory, insert them into slot 2 and 4. Reboot and note whether you can see 4 GB.
4. Do the same with the second pair of memory stick. Please note whether you can see 4 GB.
5. You can try one memory stick at a time at one slot. Please note whether you can see 2 GB.

The above tests will tell us whether the memory stick(s) is bad or the slots are bad!

Check your BIOS, are they at version B.5 (released 2016-02-26)? The release note from the last four update, B2, B3, B4 and B5 indicated they improved memory compatibility.

 

No , i have 1stick of 8GB ,forgot to mention that sorry
And my bios is updated

 

Can you find in Task Manager what is using most RAM ?

 

as you can see in the first screenshot, task manager shows a total usage of 207 mb. That can't be 25% of 8GB ram

1.8 GB usage on a system with 8 GB RAM does not seem unusual or problematic. And there is 5.9 GB available. Even if usage was high (which does not appear to be case) it would not cause a problem unless there was a shortage, which there clearly is not.

There is a widespread misconception that the more memory a computer uses the slower it will be. The opposite is true, unless there is a shortage.

I don't think the problem is memory related.

 

That's what I was thinking, I can use almost 100% of memory and still won't be noticeable slowdowns.

 

Try to perform some cleanup, for starters, run CMD as admin and enter:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase

when it finishes, enter this one and select to clean everything:

cleanmgr /sageset:65535 & cleanmgr /sagerun:65535

 

Did that , unfortunately it didn't fix it

 

I had a similar situation happen to me after the last Windows 10 update. My computer would use 30-40% of my memory even when idle with no programs running in the background.
I fixed it by stopping the Superfetch Service and setting it to disabled, rebooting, and then starting the service again and setting it back to automatic. After that everything was back to normal with 8% memory usage when idle.
