    Baidu Bug


    So earlier today a popup showed me that my browser was in danger, and it suggested me to open a browser protection. It told me how to get there but I didn't memorize the steps, and now every time I open a browser, it automatically redirects me to the Baidu homepage. This is really annoying and I would like to close the protection if possible. I am in China, so does that make a difference? Thank you.

    not able to uninstall Baidu Antivirus

    Hi neilpzz,

    Tried your suggestion but it didn't help. It did not remove Baidu. Now I have two anti-virus programs running and unable to turn either of them off. Will see how the Malwarebytes Anti-virus does during the trial period before attempting to remove it from
    my computer. My concern has been that even though the Baidu Anti-virus is supposedly on, it may not actually be doing any protecting.

    So if you or anyone else has a suggestion please let me know.

    not able to uninstall Baidu Antivirus

    Actually I had already decided to reload Baidu AV and then try to uninstall it again. I have tried a Baidu uninstall program before and it did not remove the folder.

    Malwarebytes may not be an antivirus program but it has interjected itself into that role right beside Baidu. As you should know Defender will not run as long as another program is on. No matter how many times I try to turn off Baidu AV as mentioned in
    the original post it will not turn off but for a second and then come right back on. I just now went to Control Panel to uninstall Malewarebytes and it successfully did so.

    I reloaded Baidu AV and then tried to uninstall it and it would not uninstall. I've gone to Task Manager and found it running in Process's, I tried to end the task and it would not end. I went to Services Tab and opened Services, highlighted Baidu AV and
    told it to stop the task, it would not stop. The process began and then I get a message stating that:

    Windows can not stop the Baidu Antivirus Service service on Local Computer. The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows error or an internal service error. If the problem persist, contact your system administrator.

    I turned to myself and said: Well what do think, can you fix? Myself said, apparently not because you still see it running don't you. (A little humor there, other wise I might scream and throw the computer across the room.)

    Okay I opened your latest suggestion for uninstalling it. Did as it said:

    Windows 10:
    • Click on the Start button (or press the Windows key) to open the Start menu, click on the
      Settings at the top.
    • Click on App & features on the left menu.
    • On the right side, locate Baidu.com and click it, then click on the
      Uninstall button.
    • Click on Uninstall to confirm.

    First off my menu wasn't setup as they said but hey I found the App, clicked on Baidu and clicked on uninstall. It did not ask me to confirm the Uninstall. Instead it asked me if I want this program to make changes to my computer, just like it would if
    I had just downloaded it to my computer. So I clicked yes and it went away. I went to Task Manager and still there, still running.

    And before you say anything about using Control Panel uninstall, I did that already too. Nothing happened, it didn't ask me to confirm the uninstall like it did with Malewarebytes. It did not show a bar that turned green showing me the progress of the
    uninstall. Nothing, zero, zilch, nada happened, except the little blue circle would spin a little and then go away. I could double, triple, quadruple click it again and it would say: Wait until the program has been completely uninstalled.

    Thanks for your help, but so far Baidu still has a death grip on my machine.
