Windows 10: base system device driver not installed

HP computer in device manager says driver not installed. Base system device driver not installed. Anyone know how to fix this? For Windows 10.

If you open the Device Manager there should be a "base system device" with a yellow exclamation mark.

For the base system device can you in the Device Manager right-click the device > Properties > Details, then choose "Hardware Ids" from the drop-down menu under "Property".

What is listed under "Value"?

• Open Troubleshooting.
• Under Hardware and Sound, run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2: Update the driver.

• Open Device Manager.
• Find the device that you want to update, and double-click the device name.
• Click Driver tab.
• Click Update Driver.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.

There is a newer version of the b57xdbd.sys (1.1.18.0) in the CardReader_Broadcom_16.0.2.8_W81x64_A.zip package that you installed the "base system device" driver from. It's in the CardReader_Broadcom_16.0.2.8_W81x64\xD\1.1.18.0\x64 folder.

You can update the "Broadcom xD Picture Bus Driver " the same way as you updated the "base system device" using the Device Manager and point to the b57xdu.inf in the
xD\1.1.18.0\x64 folder.

However I might suggest to try to install the complete driver package using the installer.

To do that go to the following folder:

CardReader_Broadcom_16.0.2.8_W81x64_A\CardReader_Broadcom_16.0.2.8_W81x64\CR_Installer_v16.0.2.8\x64

In the folder click on and run the setup.exe.
