Windows 10: batch renaming file extensions .WAV to .wav

Hi folks,my audio devices produce thousands of .WAV files. To analyze them I use a R-package, but the scripts are using ".wav" , so the commands do not work with my files. I tried to rename them with a couple of files in a test folder on the C: drive withren *.WAV *.wavThis worked perfectly. BUT my files are stored on an external drive E: So I set the path in cmd to the folder with my files also a test folder, to be sure and used the same command as before, but nothing happens. I searched through some forums for a solution, but could not find one. The files have no limitations for writig or

To tell you the truth if they are real wav files and not just renamed to .wav file it should not be a problem.

Microsoft is aware of this issue. It has to to do with old type of wav files.

The only option right now is to check with your provider and/or phone system and make a system wide change for the audio recording wav format.

Original recording format = PCM MU-LAW (G.711)

New recording format = Linear PCM

Once you have done that it will work perfectly.

I had our IT on campus change this and it works perfectly,
