Windows 10: Battery capacity suddenly dropped from 48,000 mWh to 6,450 mWh on my Asus expertbook

My Asus Expertbook laptop suddenly shut down and would not turn on, even when plugged, after a couple of months of not trying to turn it on I plugged it and it turned on, I ran a battery report and realized that around the time it shut down the battery design capacity went from 48,000 mWh to 6,450 mWh, and now I can only use it when plugged in. It had at most 7 months of usage so it seems strange, I dont know if the only solution is to replace the battery or if there might be other possible cause. Thanks for your help.

Why did my battery capacity drop from 27000 mwh to 4300 mwh suddenly?

I have had this laptop for 3 years now. I was working yesterday and my battery percentage was showing around 90%. Suddenly my laptop shut down. I plugged in the charger and saw that battery had drained to zero. I checked the battery health and it shows that my full charge capacity is 4200 mwh. And it was 27000 mwh just few hours ago. It is providing battery backup of around 1 hour 10-20 minutes without charging.

Laptop battery capacity suddenly decreased

I own a 2-year-old HP Pavilion laptop.

On the 25th, within 35 minutes, the battery suddenly dropped from 99% to 6%. Ever since then, not only doesn't the battery last more than an hour or two, the battery doesn't charge all the way to 100 but instead, in the 69-75% range.

After I realized there's a problem, I went on several websites to try and find out what I could do to figure out the problem. I saw sources saying to do a battery report, so I did and found out that both design capacity and full charge capacity went down from 39917 mWh to 39420 mWh (on the day this started) to 36960 mWh (right now). Still, I don't know if that explains why the battery won't charge all the way.

I tried recalibrating the battery but again, since it doesn't go all the way up, it hasn't really helped. I tried updating the drivers and the system itself, nothing changed. I don't know how old the battery is but even if it was the original one, it wouldn't suddenly act up like this, no? What else can I do? I would have included a screenshot of the battery report, but it wouldn't let me.
