    I never use my laptop battery (as far as I know) - I just have it plugged in to a power source. I keep getting messages that my battery is low and to plug it in. It is ALWAY:S plugged in. My question is : Is it necessary to have a battery as it is ALWAYS plugged in? If it is necessary then can it be recharged some other way or does it need to be replaced? Surely it should work without a battery as long as it is plugged in. It has been shutting down because of this problem and I can't start up again unless I wait for hours to get back on line.

    Thank you for being part of Windows 10.

    What is the make and model of the laptop?

    I suggest you to un-install and re-install battery drivers from Device manager and check. Follow the steps:

    • Press Windows Key + X.
    • Click on Device Manager.
    • Expand Batteries and right click on Batteries ACPI and click on Un-install.
    • Restart the computer and check.

    Laptop battery issue

    I'm pretty sure the E1505 has "speed step" on it. Double checkthe speed step settings to make sure they are set for long battery life, maybe it's somehow reset itself?

    Did quick search and found a few hits.

    One HP forum suggested calibrating battery. This procedure may not be the one for your laptop so you could research the steps for your device. HP forums would likely be the best place as it is specific to HP. That said huge amount of knowledge and equipment on this forum. Maybe a new thread with the known issue could bring in answers.
