Windows 10: Battery not detected, icon shows plugged in 255% no batter1 1 and 2

Just got a recent update KB4549951 together with a bunch of other microsoft updates. Then all of a sudden my laptop battery icon is showing no battery detected, says plugged in 255% not battery 1 and 2. I am running windows 10 ver 1909 on a sony Vaio VPCSB26FG lap top. The battery is not charging and if I pull the adapter plug, the lap top dies. It can only run on adapter power now.

It was running very smoothly with an SSD for almost a year.

I tried all the methods on the web how to resolved this problem but to no avail. Tried uninstall and install microsoft ACPI compliant Control Method battery driver, take out battery discharge residue power from lap top and re-insert battery and a variations of these. None of these work. But the battery icon for the microsoft ACPI compliant Control Method battery disappear and it has not reappear. Please help as I need to use the computer without a power outlet available.

Battery icon shows 255% even when battery not installed

As 255% is FF (hex) - all 1's - suggests a certain kind of bug...

If you have a live boot disk, that should prove it's not hardware related.

You could also try a 3rd party battery monitoring program, but if that reads the same buggy info from the OS, might give garbage too.

Battery icon shows 255% even when battery not installed

HP dv-6c63NR Laptop. Recently (not sure when it started), the battery icon in the System Tray show 255% charge when the battery is installed or removed. I've rebooted multiple times and just finished a reset. Nothing changes, still shows 255% charge.

Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this?

It was okay a week or two ago.

This laptop is in the Insider Fast stream and currently has 1903 18362.1. I could install a non-insider build on my 2nd HDD (I have a 500GB SSD boot and a 500GB HDD 2nd drive) as a test.

Yes sir, i am referring to the battery. My battery is not attached but the battery icon in the system tray shows 255% available(plugged in) that was after i uninstall the battery from the device manager and reboot it. But nothing changes.

So i will have to update the driver.
