I don't know where else to post this but here.

I am running stock Windows 10 Home. Recently I had my eye on Ghost Recon Breakpoint as I had enjoyed Rainbow Six Siege, another Tom Clancy game in my system. There was a free trial to try out the game on Uplay, so I installed that and ran it. However, when running it, BattlEye says that it failed to install (Code (4,5)), and promptly shuts down the application. I reinstalled over and over and it was the same thing. I didn't have the energy to run it again, so I played some Rainbow Six Siege instead. But I couldn't. The same error message about BattlEye popped up when I tried to run Siege, and I reinstalled and reran siege just like Breakpoint. But every time it was the same. Game opens, everything is going fine, then BattlEye service pops up, says "starting battleye service" and then "failed to install battleye (4,5)". At this point I was really tired and went to bed, hoping that in the morning my troubles would be over and my Uplay would work. I know that was pretty silly, and you guessed it, when I woke up no dice.

So then I tried to uninstall Uplay, thinking I could reinstall the games with a fresh client. Going into Programs and Features, selected uninstall on Uplay and it uninstalled. Or so it told me. I then went to install a new Uplay client from their website, and once the setup wizard was finished I ran the new Uplay. But I couldn't, and Windows said that I didn't have the permissions to change this file, which is weird, because I was doing this on the only account on my PC, the administrator account. I went back to Program Files (x86) and found the old Ubisoft folder (Where Uplay was located) intact and not having been uninstalled. So I tried it the dirty way and selected the Ubisoft folder in Program Files (x86) and clicked delete. A prompt came up saying I'd need admin privileges to delete this folder. I clicked "Continue" with the Administrator Shield on it. Any other file would have been deleted for the sole fact that I am the administrator, but instead it has this error message:

You need permission to perform this action

You require permission from SAMSUNG-SMART-F\noiri to make changes to this folder. (Samsung smart fridge is the comupter's name, noiri is what the computer calls me, the admin, noiritothecheeto.)

No matter how many times I click the "try again" prompt it comes back to that same error message. I tried changing the permissions by selecting the properties of the Ubisoft folder and went properties>security>advanced and changed permissions of "administrators", "users", "CREATOR OWNER", "NOIRITOTHECHEETO" (My account name), and "SYSTEM" to have "full control". I tried again to delete the Ubisoft folder, and no dice. I am sure it is BattlEye causing these problems, as when I try to delete the folder it says that I do not have the privileges to change the file the file GRB_BE (Ghost Recon Breakpoint BattlEye).

This time I tried the way it was meant to be uninstalled. I ran uninstall.exe inside the "Ubisoft Games Launcher" folder, and this popped up:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\Uninstall.exe

Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

    [OK]

I tried disabling antivirus, windows defender, nothing works.

Stumped, I went back to Programs and Features and found the new Uplay file still there. I tried uninstalling that and it said the file doesn't exist and if I wanted to remove it from the list. Still no dice.

Please guys, you're my last resort. I have hundreds of dollars worth of games on my Uplay account and a complete reset of my machine is the bottom line. Is there any way to

    a) bypass the need for administrator privileges even though I am the administrator

    b) find another solution to all this mess so I can play the games I spent money on?

Would like to get a status on battleye and easyanticheat getting any updates to fix the win10 1903 upgrade, as some games are getting getting the fix.

    From the MS website:

Mitigated: BattlEye has provided an updated patch to known impacted games. For a list of recent games that use BattlEye, go to BattlEye – The Anti-Cheat Gold Standard.

Workaround: Before updating your machine, we recommend you do one or more of the following:

    • Verify that your game is up to date with the latest available version of BattlEye software. Some game platforms allow you to validate your game files, which can confirm that your installation is fully up to date.
    • Restart your system and open the game again.
    • Uninstall BattlEye using https://www.battleye.com/downloads/UninstallBE.exe, and then reopen your game.
    • Uninstall and reinstall your game.
For more troubleshooting options, see BattlEye – The Anti-Cheat Gold Standard » FAQ.

Next steps: We are working with BattlEye and gaming partners to ensure games are automatically updated with the latest BattlEye software. We have confirmed the latest version of impacted games do not exhibit this issue. To minimize the chance
of hitting this upgrade compatibility hold, please make sure you are running the latest version of your games before attempting to update the operating system.
Note We recommend that you do not attempt to manually update using the Update now button or the Media Creation Tool until you have installed an updated version of BattlEye software that resolves this issue.

I have about 15 games that use both services, have updated each game through the game clint on each system.

Thanks for the feedback, had looked at the list a few days ago, but not getting 1903 by wu.

Insiders - Fortnite BattlEye failed to launch

BattlEye service is unable to launch in many of the windows insider builds. This bug has been going on for one year already. In the previous builds, we would get a BSOD when launching Fortnite BattlEye service. At the September 2019 build (18958) I am
still unable to launch the battleye service. Now, I am seeing an error message saying that windows cannot access the specified device path or file you may not have appropriate permissions. I am an admin of my PC, and the fortnite folder is given all permissions.
This is a problem with the BattlEye service since it says failed to launch the game. Is there a fix to this insider bug? Anyone encountering the same bug?
