Be aware that the automated installer has the october update that deletes the files

On Nov 10 I've downloaded a Windows 10 pro version directly form Microsoft, it installed be the unbelievable version 17763.134 even if the fact that it deletes files was known for a week (as I found later).

    What happened?

    - The seconday harddisk started to show some folder are corrupted on double click & they disappeared.

    - I run a checkdisk, 70% of my hdd has vanished.

    - I had the important files on OneDrive, guess what? even if it always showed me that the files are being synehcronized (I used to pause the synch very often), on OneDrive the last update was on 2017 Apr - 1.5 years ago!

Recuva got the files but lost the folder structure, it's a nightmare...

    :)

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink Be aware that the automated installer has the october update that deletes the files ;)
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

    Deleting the "SoftwareDistribution" Files

I noticed that "Depending on your HDD Space and you made sure your Updated on Windows 7" that you can delete all the Files "Going into Safe-Mode of course" but i saw a .Txt File that shows the Updates you've installed "That i deleted by mistake" but by deleting that File i saw the updates needed to be installed again but i knew weren't true.

So yeah what ya' think? Should this be a good idea? I saw that over 3GB worth of files!

Windows 10 October Update - will my files be deleted?

I installed the October Update on the 3rd October, before the update rollout was halted. I'm becoming increasingly concerned by the reports of Windows deleting files. The vast majority of my files are stored in OneDrive, is there any risk that these could
    be deleted too?

I'm not able to revert back to a previous build because I was running very short on space, hence I deleted the previous build Windows files using disk clean-up as I was advised to do by a Microsoft support assistant yesterday.

Please could anyone confirm if the reported issues affect everyone using the October Update or if it is just a small number of users affected y the problems?

    Many thanks.
