Windows 10: Beeping Windows Safety Alert - What happened?

While using Outlook 2016 a screen popped up with a heading like "Windows Safety Alert", a continuous loud beeping sound, a voice I couldn't quite hear because of the beeping noise, a screen message telling me not to shut down my computer and to call an 800 number. My computer would not respond to any mouse or keyboard instructions, so I powered it off before I read the details.


I have no idea what happened. I used the FIXME stick to scan my machine, which said my computer was clean, but I found that my Outlook 2016 program was gone. I've reinstalled it and it appears that all my files are intact.


I wonder what really happened. Is there something undetected that will affect me now, and how to prevent it happening again. I'm using Windows 10, Windows defender and Malware Bytes.

Alert/beep every 30 minutes

Every 30 minutes my Lumia600 gives a short beep/alert. Any suggestions what could be causing this?

 

Emergency Alerts

Just to confirm, is this the same thing that you tried on your phone, in order to turn off Amber Alerts?

• Open Settings.
• Tap on System.
• Tap on Messaging.
• Tap on the Change emergency alert settings link.
• Turn on or off the emergency alerts you want.

Let us know if this was the same thing that you tried.

We would also suggest to reset your phone after doing these steps to ensure that the changes on your phone's settings will be refreshed.

Simply press and hold the Power and Volume down button for 15 seconds and then release your hold afterwards.
