Windows 10: Being denied Admin priveleges despite being logged in as the Administrator

When I try to shut down my laptop Windows 7 using Alt+F4, it says "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." And all this despite I'm logged in with the admin account & it's the one & only user account on my Pc. Moreover in the Windows button, there are just 2 options being showed - Switch User & Lock, and no Shutdown Option. The Shutdown/Sleep/Hiibernate options come only after logging off! And on clicking Shutdown here, it quite often says "You are shutting down this computer while there are othe

net user administrator /active:no keeps saying access denied.

It's possible that you're not using an elevated command prompt, causing the Access Denied error. We suggest following these steps to properly disable the built-in administrator account:

• Right-click the Start button.
• Choose Command Prompt (Admin).
• Copy and paste net user Administrator /active:no and press
  Enter. If the command isn't successful, please post a screenshot so that we can study it further.

Let us know if you're able to hide the administrator account after following these steps.

 

Do we "need" a separate admin account?

For Standard or Administrator user:

To get DOS box with user priveleges

• Type cmd in search box
• Left-click on "Command Prompt"

For Administrator user:

To get DOS box with admin priveleges

• Type cmd in search box
• Right click on Command Prompt
• Left-click on "Run as Administrator"

For Standard user:

To get DOS box with admin priveleges

• Type cmd in search box
• Right click on Command Prompt
• Left-click on "Run as Administrator"
• Enter username and password for other user that has type Administrator

 

Administrator privelege lost

I seem to have lost administrator priveleges on my standalone computer. I have only the 1 user account and cannot perform any function. Is there a fix to regain administrator rights as I cannot even reset without these rights?
