    Nice!

Is that out yet, or coming soon?
When it comes to internet/wireless speed, there is no such thing as overkill..

Good choice. Been using one since February this year with zero issues. Currently running the following off of it,

    one hard wired computer
    one wireless computer (2.4 Ghz)
three cell phones (all at 2.4)
three Roku's (one hard wired and two wireless at 5 Ghz)

I think its actually 12. 8 internal and 4 external

Sorry, just checked. 4 internal and 4 external. Six lan ports too, i like that

I also like that NetGear router too, but dam, they want 400.00 bucks toooo!!! I like the idea of 6 lan ports. most have only 4. My netgear 6300 has 5 and that's an old one.

For routers, look at Home - SmallNetBuilder for reviews on the actual performance of how it compares to others.

I have a wireless router for wireless devices as my wired stuff all have their own static IPs since everything including the Wireless router is directly connected to a Cisco Catalyst 10Gigabit Managed Switch. The wireless router is more of the home grade equipment and not enterprise grade. Netgear has always had poor support as you can see from the FWAG114 which was considered a business grade router, it had so many problems that they never fixed that it was a joke.

I've been using the Asus 66R Router for about 18 months and it has been rock solid. I originally bought it for my son because he was having coverage problems. He eventually went with an Apple network and pluggable ap's so he let me have the Asus. I think he is the one who made the mistake. While reading through this thread it reminded me to check the firmware availability and a new version is out so I will update it tonight.

Edit: (11/19/2015) There is a new firmware update for the Asus 66R, Ver. 300.4.378 9313 has been released.

Long ago there were issues at times doing the firmware upgrades. But, I have done everyone, without a hitch. i trust them completely.

My brother just got the R7500, trying to out do me I guess, LOL (he only has a laptop and 2 desktops). But, it is super nice, but far more complicated. I like the R6200, it is simple and just works. *Wink

I have looked at the ASUS AC3200 and the D-Link AC3200 and they are a bit out of my price range at the moment.
As far as the Netgear stuff, I have had little luck with their products. The modem I have is one supplied by my ISP
and is NOT the latest, it is a Netgear CG3000 and it has it's issues from time to time but I can't replace it *Sad
The Route I have is also a Netgear, model WNDR4500 V1 and it disappoints me VERY much. I have had to reprogamme it
more than 4 times and the support is next to nothing so, I am going to trying to find a better one.

Thanks, it's encouraging to hear that you've been having success. My TP-Link C7 router should arrive tomorrow. It's part of a larger upgrade; there will also be a faster modem going in and a bump to 100 meg from the ISP *Nerd

I switched from kong's dd-wrt firmware to XVortex's Merlin Asus WRT a little over 10 hours ago on the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 and the change is amazing.... I am sitting about 12 feet from the router but before with both Netgear and DD-WRT firmware, my latency to the router is 25ms when wired is 1ms or less. With XVortex, my latency to the router is 1ms!

I have not had any issues with my stock firmware (R7000) but the UI of the merlin looks way better then the stock one, might have to switch for that convince alone.
