  1. Best way to "fit" desktop background image?

Some of the images I have for desktop backgrounds (slideshow), don't fit properly, even though I select the "fit" option. As far as I can tell, Windows is only scaling based on height, so when an image has an aspect ratio that is wider than tall compared to my desktop's ratio, Windows always cuts the sides off. This is really frustrating, and I expect such a basic feature to work correctly in an OS that I have to pay for.

What I have been doing is to use the "Center" option for my images, then manually resize them so that they fit (set the image resolution to be the same or smaller than my desktop). This gives me the look I want, but is a lot of work that I shouldn't have to do.

So, I'm looking for suggestions on an easier way to get around Windows failing at such a basic and simple feature. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  2. Desktop Background Slideshow - Change fit based on image dimensions

    Hello,

Windows 10 includes a lot of personalization settings where users can change their desktop background, colors, lock screen background, and the like. About your query, the fitting of your slideshow images depends on the size or dimension of each picture.
Even though having a standard slideshow size is not attainable, we suggest using an image editor or application to modify the dimensions of your graphics. This way, you'd be able to achieve a standard size setting on all of your slideshow pictures.

Feel free to write again if you need additional assistance regarding your concern.

Best way to "fit" desktop background image?

Desktop Background Slideshow - Change fit based on image dimensions

Greetings! I'm using Windows 10, and have set a very large collection of images to slideshow through them once an hour as my desktop background. The dimensions of these images vary wildly. What I would like to know is if there's a way to let the slideshow
change the fit based on the dimensions of the image. I'd like it to be set to Fit for images that exceed my 1920x1080 screen resolution in either direction, but center anything smaller than those limits, that way I can see the entire image for large images,
    but not distort small images.

Is there a standard windows way to handle this? If not, what are some recommended alternatives? I've just been leaving it set to fit and skipping to the next image when I get a smaller one, as sorting the smaller images into a different directory would break
    my regular sorting scheme.
