Best way to "Show hidden devices" in devmgmt.msc?

So there are 2 ways I know of to show hidden devices:1. In the Device Manager we go to View > Show hidden devices2. In the command prompt we enter:Set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1Devmgmt.mscAnd then still proceed to View > Show hidden devices. Is there any advantage in choosing #2 over #1?I've been told choosing the #2 route will show extra hidden devices, but I have not been able to count a difference in hidden devices from either option.

    :)

  2. get/devmgmt/mediahandlingdyn.xml

My LaserJet Pro M203 is randomly printing pages of code. It will print several pages with the following command on several lines: GET?DevMgmt/MediaHandlingDyn.xml HTTP/1.1. Then it will print a page with the following command listed one time: GET/DevMgmt?ProductConfigDyn.xml
    HTTP/1.1.

I have powered the computer/printer down and disconnected the power cord. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the printer. I have purchased a second identical printer which has the same issues. This suggests to me that I have a Windows problem and not a printer
    problem.

I have cleared my print spoolers and restarted my computer. On occasion that has corrected the issue, but if I need to restart my computer, the same issue resurfaces.

    Any suggestions are SOOOO WELCOME!!!!

  3. My laptop is not showing other devices or unknown devices

    Hi,

My name is Angel. I am an Independent Advisor. Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Some devices might be listed under hidden devices in Device Manager, I suggest you to open Device Manager then click on View option and click on Show hidden devices. Once it is done, check whether you can find the device.

As an initial step of troubleshooting, I suggest you to try connecting the device with other USB ports and check if it is detected (If you are connecting through USB).

Also, try updating the USB drivers and check if it helps. Follow the below steps.

    -Open Device Manager.

-Find and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.

-Right-click on each driver listed and click on Update Driver Software

-Restart the system after updating the drivers.

-Try connecting the device and check if the issue still persists.

Hope the information provided is useful. If the issue persists, reply here and we will be glad to help you.

    Angel.

  4. Best way to "Show hidden devices" in devmgmt.msc?

    Device Manager Un-Hiding Hidden Devices

When you connect a plug and play device, Windows Plug and Play manager detects it, finds and installs the driver. Device Manager lists the device with a solid icon.

The driver is only removed when you uninstall the device, not simply by disconnecting the device. When the device is disconnected, its driver is still installed. By default, Device Manager only displays connected devices. When you show hidden devices, note the Bluetooth icon you see is semi-transparent (not opaque). That indicates a "non-present" device. Sometimes also called a "ghost" device. The driver is still installed but the device is not currently detected (i.e. not connected).

    Device can be disconnected when
    • Device unplugged (e.g. removing a USB device)
    • Turning a device OFF
    • Disabling the device in BIOS (then windows won't detect it) or
    • Device failure

    So
    • Check BIOS as suggested
    • Check board connections
    • Can b/t be turned off by a switch? or keyboard combination?
Also possible the b/t h/w failed
