Windows 10: Big problems with M4A after updating to Windows 11 22H2

Dear colleagues, after updating Windows 11 to 22H2, there were significant problems with playing files purchased from iTunes in .m4a AAC, ALAC format. This problem has been fixed by a lot of people all over the world and is especially evident on the DJ forums. Problems are observed with the quality of playback, and with the volume and with a number of other parameters. This problem is detected on software that uses the built-in Windows 11 22H2 codecs on earlier versions, the problem is not observed, Windows Media Player, RekordBox, Serato DJ Pro, etc. On players that use their own codecs

Windows 11 Update 22H2 Failure and Problems

Cannot update Windows 11 to build 22h2

Need more help than support web site offers. I would like to update a Windows Pro 21h2 to 22h2.

I've tried every suggestion at Troubleshoot problems updating Windows - Microsoft Support short of "Perfrom a clean installation of Windows 11." That list is comprehensive and includes everything I would have thought of on my own and then some. None of the troubleshooting suggestions solved the problem. The system in question is a Lenovo ThinkCentre M90n desktop running Windows 11 Pro Version 21H2.

In addition to all the steps at the above link, I've also tried installing by using Windows 11 Installation Assistant. Installation Assistant downloads and goes through the long installation process. But then very shortly after the reboot starts, it says, "Undoing changes" and boots back into the old build.

 

Windows 11 22h2 Update Problem.

Windows 11 22H2 will throw this error if the OS partition is a "Dynamic" disk.

Open Disk Management and verify the disk type.





If the OS partition is setup as Dynamic, then you have the following workarounds:

(Important: Take a complete image backup using Macrium Reflect beforehand)

1) English Community-Lenovo Community ("Solved the issue. Somehow I converted my hard drive to dynamic. The update can only be applied to "basic" hard drives. Used EasyUS to convert my drive with data intact. Update was successful after that.")

(or)

2) Download both (21H2 and 22H2) ISOs, extract the 22H2 install.wim to a folder, and run Setup.exe from the 21H2 ISO, but mention the "/InstallFrom" argument and point it to the 22H2 install.wim.
