  2. Issues with the cursor on Windows 10

    Hi,

I realize that you are facing issues with the cursor on your PC. I will try to help you with this issue.

    • Did you make any changes to the cursor settings prior to this issue?

Follow these steps to make changes to the mouse pointer settings:

    • Press Windows key + I to get the Settings screen.

    • Click Devices and click on Mouse and Touchpad.

If need be then you may also click on additional mouse options to make necessary changes.

Once this is done close all windows and restart the computer to check if that helps.

Keep us informed to help you further.

Windows 10 Update leaves cursor issues

    Hi Greg,

First, I now have Windows 10 Version 2004 installed with cursor working fine. Login page still blurs but that is minor and I can happily live with it.

Detail of the procedure I followed for your benefit (and others who may face the same issue). I generally followed the path you described step by step. I downloaded and installed W10 2004 using the Media Creation Tool. On restart the flickering cursor issue
    was still there.

I skipped trying to install Version 1903 and went to your suggestions for trying to repair using your Performance and Install Integrity Checklist steps 4, 7, 10 and 16. In spite of my very basic knowledge I did not have great difficulty and was able to follow
the step-by-step guide. The only issue was my own mistake - not putting the spaces in the commands, but figured it out. After restart the cursor issue remained.

I then download Malware Bytes as suggested and ran a scan. In a belt and braces approach I also did a full scan with my own antivurus protector. Both scans revealed corrupt files and they were removed or quarantined. Finally, I went through the driver updates.
Found 25 that were not at the manufacturer's latest and updated them all. On restart the cursor problems had gone.

I have detailed my approach to show others that inexperience is not a drawback in tackling these issues when you have a good guide to follow.

Thanks for your assistance, it is really appreciated

    Windows 10 - Cursor twinkling

    Hi SebastianCubela,

Do not worry, will assist you with the issue.

I suggest you to try the steps provided below.

If you see the black/flickering cursor/screen only
after sign-in and you can see a mouse cursor:

    • While at the black screen, try using CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to start Task Manager.
    • If it becomes visible, try finding LockAppHost.exe on the Details tab and ending the task.
      • If this resolves the black screen, use corruption resolution steps (dism, then sfc).
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files:

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support

Fix Windows corruption errors by using the DISM or System Update Readiness tool:

Fix Windows Update errors via DISM or System Update Readiness tool - Windows Server

    • If this does not work, use File, Run new task in Task Manager to start an Administrator CMD window. Use this to create a new administrator user with the following commands (changing “<password>” to something of the customer’s
      choosing):

      net user test <password> /add

      net localgroup Administrators test /add
    • This will give you a test user to try, which will confirm if the issue is user or system-specific.
Hope this helps in resolving the issue. If the issue persists, do get back to us. We will be happy to assist you.
