  1. BingSearchEnabled

I’ve had BingSearchEnabled in regedit for some while on my pc so that when I’m searching in the start menu I only search locally and not on the internet. But now, since I reinstalled windows it doesn’t work anymore? Any help?

  2. Cortana and the text entry do not work any more

    Following the following suggestion:

No Cortana after Windows 10 Anniversary update

    Change HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search

BingSearchEnabled change form 0 to 1

    THIS WAS NOT FRUITFUL.

The item did not exist in the Registry.

    WHY???

Should I try to add "BingSearchEnabled" item line to my Registry?

    BingSearchEnabled

Search category WEB dissapeared after upgrading to 1903

    Hi Rick,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

This issue might occur on PCs where the web results are disabled for Cortana. I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for you.

    Note:

Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry
if a problem occurs. To backup and restore registry key, refer to this
    link.

    • Press ‘Windows + R’ keys on the keyboard together to open the Run dialog box and type the following into the Run box:
      REGEDIT
    • Navigate to the following registry key:

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Search
    • On the right pane create two new DWORD (32-bit) values
      namely, AllowSearchToUseLocation and BingSearchEnabled.
Set the value data of the both to 1.
    • Restart the machine and see if the issue persists.

    Regards,
