  1. Biometric Login not working

I have my fingerprints setup for my laptops login but whenever I try to use it my laptop just says that I require to use my laptops set password instead, does anyone know how I can change it to work with biometrics? Some background:I was running a free trial of Avira Prime and set the security settings to maximum, I then noticed it stopped me doing almost anything, when I reduced it back down to an amount I could still do things on I could no longer find out how to bring back biometric log in, after the trial ended I ended up deleting Avira as there wasn't much to do without the paid version wh

    :)

    • Type gpedit.msc and press
      Enter

    OK button.

Now, restart your computer and follow the instructions provided below.

After restarting the computer, I suggest you to disconnect and reconnect the fingerprint sensor device and check if the drivers are getting detected in Device Manager. If the issue still persist, follow method 2.

Method 2: Reinstall drivers and compatibility mode.

I suggest you to download and install the latest drives for fingerprint sensor device from the manufacture’s website and check if it gets detected.

If the issue still persist, you may also install the drivers in compatibility mode and check.

Follow the steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode.

    • Download the drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
    • Right-click on the installer and click on "Properties".
    • Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select previous Operating System from the drop down.
    • Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

After installing the drivers in compatibility mode, follow the method 3 and check if you are able to get the sign in option with Biometric.

    Method 3:

    • Press Windows logo key + I key.
    • Click on Accounts.
    • Go to Sign in options.
    • The fingerprint option will always be visible if there is a WBF-supported fingerprint reader (and its associated driver) installed on the computer.

Biometric not working on third party apps, works only on login.

Hi, I'm on Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit 20H2 (Build 19042.804). My computer is in domain. To make biometric work I had to add key to registry ([HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System] "AllowDomainPINLogon"=dword:00000001) and turn on PIN in Group Policy
Now biometric works on login but not in third party apps, for example when I want to reveal passwords in Google Chrome it asks me for password (not PIN or Fingerprint). What should I change in registry or group policy to make it work? I tried already to turn on, all options (Group Policy) in Windows Hello for Business, Logon, Biometric and nothing changed.
