Windows 10: BIOS 'extend battery life' option not working after latest BIOS and Windows 10 update.

Dear, As described in the subject, even with the BIOS option enabled my battery charges past 80%, which I do not want.As any Windows update is often the source of all your troubles, does Windows somehow overwrite this BIOS option, and how might I fix it?I have a HP Z-book.Kind regards,Robert

access BIOS settings in Win 10

I have an 8-year old computer running Win 10. I need to access the BIOS settings. It used to be the holding down the F2 key during startup would bring up the BIOS screen in Windows computers. But this no longer works. A web article listed a complicated
series of steps leading to a reboot . . . but still no access to BIOS. Any suggestions?

Updating the BIOS generally takes around 5-10 minutes. You will have to look at the BIOS release notes to see if there's any fixes that affect battery life.

There is nothing certain about computer security. My opinion is that Bitlocker with PIN provides sufficient protection for most users. If you have a PIN then the BIOS password/USB boot/Windows malware issues are mostly irrelevant.

I thought you could enable the PIN following those same steps but if not then there should be a tutorial on this site that shows how to enable the PIN.
